SocialFare Seed is the first Italian impact seed vehicle for social impact startups.
INVESTMENT THESIS
Convertible financing
Investments are made using a convertible financial instrument, that is a non-interest-bearing financing instrument that can be converted in the startup’s equity. Convertibles are typically used by startups in their early stages because they are a simple, fast and inexpensive way to gather the first funds without needing to immediately & formally incorporate a new equity partner with all the relative costs. SocialFare Seed converts into equity if and when the startup has a good business performance or if it finds investor capital in the three years after following the signing of the contract.
Transfer of Resources
Resource transfer is a two-step solution: the first when the acceleration programme begins, and the second halfway through the programme and according to the results attained.
Contract
The contract is a standard form for all startups. A draft version is sent to project/company teams before Selection Day for them to peruse. If the startup is selected and admitted to the acceleration programme, then the startup must accept and sign the contract to be eligible for seed funding.

SocialFare & SocialFare Seed’s unique system supplies both the capital and the capacity building for the tools to create and strengthen new generations of impact entrepreneurs.

SocialFare Seed is a private company etsablished by impact investors FINDE SpA, Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and Fondazione CRC .
SicialFare also is also part of the vehicle, in that it promotes a systemic method to favour the establishment and growth of new social entrepreneurship. It is a unique case in point in the Italian landscape.
